Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections acquired through unprotected sexual contact, including oral, vaginal, and anal sex, as well as close genital contact. They can also occasionally be passed from mother to child during childbirth or breastfeeding.
Without diagnosis and treatment, certain STIs can lead to severe, long-term health complications.
Each year in the United States, approximately 20 million new STI cases are reported, with half affecting individuals aged 15-24. This is why regular STI testing is so important for sexual health and overall well-being.
Doxycycline is an antibiotic that has been used for 50+ years to treat various infections and is generally well-tolerated. Doxycycline has been shown to be effective prevention of bacterial STIs like gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis.
Speak to your medical provider or present to one of our clinics if you think DoxyPrEP/PEP might be a good option for you!
